Kryemadhi: Week 6

 My Life In Ten Years

We are all juniors, which means the end of high school is near. I can't seem to figure out where all that time has gone. It feels like just yesterday was the first day of freshman year, but now "adulting" is just around the corner. Family members constantly ask me, “Do you know what you want to be,” “Do you know where you wanna go,” “Are you ready to leave home?’ The simple answer to all those questions is no. If I can barely decide what to eat for breakfast in the morning, how in the world am I supposed to make choices that are going to affect the rest of my life? Even though I don’t know everything, I have a slight idea about what I want my future to hold.

First off, I hope to be happy and healthy. No matter what my future entails, I hope it is filled with many many smiles. Most importantly, I know if my best friend is by my side, it will most definitely be filled with laughter and happiness. Regardless of what life throws at us, together we can handle anything. As I move away from home, I hope to stay close to my family as well. Additionally, maybe years from now I will even start a family of my own. Lastly, I hope that all my loved ones are in good health and that COVID is long gone by then.

To add on, I hope that 10 years from now I am working in the medical field. Hopefully I will have graduated from a good university and completed my residency program. For years now, I have loved to help people. From doing volunteer work in my community to assisting classmates (in school or dance), I love to lend a helping hand. Working in the medical field can help me fulfill the love I have for helping others. I would like to either be a physician's assistant, pediatrician, or even a dermatologist.

Last but not least, I hope that travel has become an even bigger part of my life. My parents have already started my love for travel, but I hope to continue it in my later life. One of my goals is to visit each continent. I can currently check off Europe (and North America of course), but I hope to have the opportunity to visit the other five. I would even like to go backpacking through Europe at some point.

Believe me, I know that  thinking about your future can be can be beyond stressful. But, even still,  if you keep your goals in sight, anything and everything is possible.

A Hawaiian Island (just one of the many places I would like to visit).

  1. It is crazy to think that we are coming towards the end of our high school career. I really feels like yesterday we were just freshmen. Like you, I don't exactly know what I want to do. I know I want to go into the medical field, but I don't know where I want to live or how far I want to be from home. Although there is so much uncertainty, I do know that I will be happy moving forward with the amazing friends and family I have in my life.

  2. I get so concerned what I want to do with my future and what I want to do when I get older. I think it is something scary and exciting at the same time. High school really happened in a blink of an eye. It is really unfortunate that the majority of our high school will have been affected by covid by we can only be optimistic and hope for a better future.

  3. That's really interesting, Sarah. I definitely feel as though important life decisions are right around the corner. Also, you expressed an interest in the medical field. That career path is an excellent choice not because of the great financial compensation and job opportunities, but also because it seems to match your interest in helping others.
