Buezo Week 6

 Political Science

Being apart of the debate team has opened my eyes to many new things. Being in debate we talk about many prominent issues in the world, and we only focus one big topic each year. I wanted to learn more about current problems in the world.   I often would hear the seniors talk about majoring in political science. Before making a huge decision deciding that would be my major I decided to do a dual enrollment class at Northampton Community College about political science. I was scared to be the only Junior in my class, but the students are really nice. To top it off I love my professor. He is very funny and he is a lawyer so he talks about law often, and I want to be a lawyer so I enjoy every aspect of the class. If you are interested in law and politics, I definitely recommend taking a class a political science class at Northampton Community College. You also get a full credit as an elective. I recommend taking dual enrollment classes for students who want to further explore different classes and give them a better idea of college life.

What we learn in Political Science is a lot about American History that we already know about, but it focuses in on political parties specifically. What you will realize in political science is the conservative of early American is considered to be our radical liberal in todays day. The political parties almost completely did a 180 throughout time. I find that very fascinating. After you learn the history of political parties in the United States you will later learn more about current events. We always have class discussions about current events going on that are prominent. I love this because it makes me more aware of what is going throughout our country, and what others have to say about it. Last week we talked about the stock market, this week we talked about how social media effects the elections more and more each year. I suggest when taking political science to download at News Source that is less bias as possible to bring up new issues and discuss them. What I especially love about this class is sparking a debate, but in a respectful manner and being able to consider both sides. It makes you look at things from both point of views and be more insightful of what others have to believe.

  1. Gabby, this sounds so interesting! Being on the debate team as well, I really enjoy getting the chance to be immersed in politics. It is awesome that you get to take a class on it with dual enrollment, and I might consider doing so myself!
